Louise L.Hay

Louis L. Hay - the woman whose book "You can heal your life", changed my life. No, that is not right way to say it. Louis L. Hay, the woman whose book "You can heal your life", gave me proof that I'm not crazy, that there are other people who think and act like me, and gave me "manual for life". Today, she is 86 years old woman that keeps helping and inspiring people all around this globe. Whenever I mention her I call her Louise and not by her surname, Hay, because I feel like we are close friends and I'll keep calling her like that in my articles too. Here are some facts I've found about her, mainly from Wikipedia

Where does she come from?

She was born in Los Angeles, her mother was poor and remarried to violent man who became Louis's stepfather. She was raped by a neighbour at the age of 5 and at the age of 15 she dropped out of high school, no diploma of course. Louis became pregnant and got a baby girl and gave her for adoption. She moved to Chicago then at 1950. to New York where she changed her name and began a career as a fashion model. On a contrary to earlier low-payed jobs, she achieved success as model and in 1954 got married to English businessman Andrew Hay. 14 years later he left her for another woman leaving her devastated and ... you can imagine how she might felt.

How did she recuperate her life?

Fortunately, she turns to New Thought works of different authors who believed that positive thinking could change people's material circumstances, like Florence Scovel Shinn and Ernest Holmes founder of Religious Science, who believed that positive thinking could heal the body. At 1970s she became a Religious Science practitioner and became popular as a workshop leader. She also studied Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at the Maharishi International University. Around 1977 or 1978 she found she had cervical cancer, and she realized that by holding on to her resentment for her childhood abuse and rape she created it in her body. She stud by what she preached and refused conventional medical treatment, and began a regime of forgiveness, therapy, nutrition, reflexology and occasional enemas. She claims that she got rid of the cancer by this method, even though there is no doctor left alive who can confirm this story. Looking at other people around the world that her method helped get rid of different body problems (myself included) you have to believe her words.

First books!

In 1976, Louise wrote her first book Heal Your Body (The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome Them), which began as a small pamphlet containing a list of different bodily disorders/illnesses and “probable” metaphysical causes for them. Her book You Can Heal Your Life, is published in 1984 and as of February 2008, it was second on the New York Times miscellaneous paperback best-sellers list. She began leading support groups for people living with H.I.V. or AIDS which she called "Hay Rides", doing it in her living room at the beginning, but soon moved to large hall in West Hollywood cause her living room was too small for all the people who wanted to attend. Her work with AIDS patients drew fame and she was invited to appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Donahue” in the same week, in March 1988. After that her book You Can Heal Your Life immediately landed on the New York Times best-seller list. More than 35 million copies sold around the world in over 30 languages and it also has been made into a movie. You Can Heal Your Life is also included in the book 50 Self-Help Classics for being significant in its field.

Success in more then one way.

In 1987 Louise founded her own publishing company Hay House that publishes books, audio, and video in the areas such as Self-Help, New Thought, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Alternative Health, Men's/Women's Issues, Food and Nutrition, Finance, Environmental Issues, Education, Business, Astrology and New Age by many well-known authors, spiritual teachers, motivational speakers, etc. Her company "Hay House Inc." includes the New Beginnings Press, Princess Books, Smiley Books, and Balboa Press, and she launched Hay House Radio Network in 2005 for broadcasting Hay House prominent authors.
Louis's books "You can heal your life" is my second Bible and I think that because of it I'm attracting people who need her teaching and her approach to self-help, self-growth, changing their lives. I'm so grateful to her that words can't express.

Muahaaaa and shine like the star that you are.
